Jagdip Mehta’s House is one of Ahmedabad’s first heritage homestays. Guests staying here can get an insight into life in the pols of the walled city.
This heritage house was one of those owned by a Nagar Brahmin extended family. This family had several houses in the Mota Suthar no Vado area and environs of Khadia. It was taken over by Jagdip Mehta, restored and renovated.
The house has a façade that combines traditional architecture with European influences. Characteristic of Ahmedabad’s havelis, the house has an open courtyard called the chowk and you can also see the historical water harvesting systems.
The owners let out rooms and arrange various cultural experiences like cooking lessons, traditional music, family interaction and neighbourhood walks.
The bungalow is also situated in the heart of the old city, making it a convenient spot to visit monuments, historical sites, and markets.
