Also called Khan-E-Jahan Darwaja, Khan Jahan Gate was one of the gates along the southwest wall of Ahmedabad.

The second fort of Ahmedabad’s walled city was built by Ahmed Shah I as described in Mirat-i-Ahmadi and was completed by Sultan Mahmud Begada in the period between 1487 and 1489. Khan Jahan Gate was part of this extended perimeter wall of Ahmedabad.

A noble in the court of the Sultans, Khan Jahan built the gate and the mosque. This gate is said to have been the site for a battle between the British and the Marathas.

This gate lies near the Khan Jahan Mosque and other historical buildings of Raikhad area. It looks out towards the Sabarmati Riverfront. Khan Jahan mosque has seven bays. The building has minarets at its corners. A pavilion in the forecourt is said to hold the tomb of Khan Jahan.
