Jagvallabh Derasar is one of the historical Jain temples in Ahmedabad’s walled city.

This is one of the old Jain temples of Ahmedabad, said to date back to medieval times but probably heavily renovated later.

The temple is built largely from marble. It has a wooden door but the actual entrance is also made from marble. The white marble domes is one of the highlights of the temple’s interiors with a lotus pendant in the centre and sculpted figures of 18 dancing girls superimposed around the pendant.

The backyard can be accessed for a view of the carvings on the exterior. One of the noteworthy motifs is that of Dharamchakra, the wheel of law.

MOST POPULAR ATTRACTION

On the ground floor of the Derasar one can find small black idol of Shri Chintamani Parshvanath in Padmasan. The Derasar also has a six feet tall idol of Jain Tirthankar Lord Adinath sitting in Padmasan’s yogic posture.
